7th grade is a mixed class of; 9 week students, Semester Long students and Yearlong students. 9 week students explore the elements of art as they are applied to specific themes along with the exploration and research of topics that are relevant to not only students but today's society as well. Semester and Yearlong students explore similar topics and themes as 9 Week students but with varying mediums and more advanced techniques. Yearlong students will explore 1 Pbl topic to be presented for possible PBL Expo presentation.

Kaleidoscope/ Color wheelstudents explore color in depth with a look at and activity exploring Isaac Newton w/ light and prisms before creating their own color wheel w/ vocal and definitions. next students create their color product inspired by Newton; Kaleidoscopes.
Research UnitStudents will conduct at least one research unit a quarter with the teaching assistance and expertise of our Librarian who will guide them through databases, reliable resources and creating citations as this all applies to their given art topic or theme; Street art and Social Issues, Disasters w/ clay mutants and graphic novels, Civil Rights and themes in history, Taking a stand in Social Issues.

Value ScaleEach quarter students explore the value scale extensively with an art product; Shoe still life B&W and Color comparison, stippling animals and pop art/ monochromatic portraits.
Personal IdentityStudents explore personal identity with different mediums and techniques; I am Mandala and collage, constellation silhouettes w/ legacy, Collage Selfies.

PerspectiveStudents will explore landscapes and one point perspective with an art product exploring the themes; personified animals OR hand 'scapes.
Semester and Yearlong ExtrasHanging mobiles inspired by "Inside Out," Native American Animal Totems, Street Art and Humanities PBL, India Elephants, Fairy Tale Agamographs, Illustrating a Word, Torn Paper Superhero.
