Color Wheel/ Color MixingStudents review the color wheel with an in-depth exploration of color mixing and matching with a theme of bugs. Students will also create their initial in large scale graffiti style.
Research UnitEach quarter students conduct at least one research unit with the help and teaching of our awesome Librarian. Students learn more about copyright, using reliable sources and creating citations as it is all applied to their artwork. topics include; street art with social issues, endangered animals, constellations and mythology, Matisse rooms with a cultural view.

Chameleon Like MeStudents continue their color exploration along with line and shape in this patterned chameleon drawing inspired by student's individual personalities and characteristics. students will also create a short story to accompany their chameleon.
Culture StudyStudents explore a variety of different cultures and time periods each quarter; Native American Totems and Painted Horses, Painted Elephants and Mandalas of India, Egyptian Sarcophagi, Castles and Europe.

Comic book gridsStudents study the importance of line and shape with an in depth exploration of using a grid to achieve correct proportions and placement. Students will also begin to explore the value scale as it is applied to colored pencil.
Personal Identity and MessageStudents finish their art exploration with a unit on personal identity and messages in art. students explore several different methods for creating artwork that explores their own identity followed by artwork that sends a specific message or theme.
